OUR PASTOR

Rev. Raymond. F. Edmonds, Jr., Pastor

Rev. Raymond F. Edmonds, Jr. was born and raised in Chesapeake, VA and is the son of Raymond and Elnor Edmonds. Rev. Edmonds’ educational pursuits were in the Chesapeake Public School System and at Morgan State University with a major in Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies. Rev. Edmonds was employed by the State of Maryland for 19 years. He worked for the Maryland Department of Education Division of Rehabilitation Services in Human Resources. Presently, he is a Human Resource Specialist for the Social Security Administration.

Rev. Edmonds preached his trial sermon at Bethel A.M.E. Church on May 16, 1986 under Rev. John R. Bryant, now Bishop John R. Bryant. The topic of his trial sermon was "Love Lifted Me" using St. John 3:16 as his scripture text. After Rev. Edmonds was licensed to preach, he served as an associate minister to the New Life Ministry and the Minister to God's Boot Camp at Bethel. God's Boot Camp was particularly interesting to Rev. Edmonds because it was an eight week session that equipped new believers to be a member of God's Army. Rev. Edmonds was a minister to these ministries for approximately four years. In 1991, Rev. Edmonds was asked to join the Waters A.M.E. Church family under the leadership of Rev. Ronald E. Braxton and develop a men's ministry. Rev. Edmonds got to work at Waters. This ministry now called the Brotherhood, ministers to the whole man—physically, mentally, socially, intellectually and spiritually. Rev. Edmonds also served as minister to the Youth Ministries. In April 1994, Rev. Edmonds was ordained an Itinerant Elder by Bishop Frederick Calhoun James.

In October 1995, Bishop James appointed him to give birth to a new ministry, Gethsemane A.M.E. Church. He faithfully served that congregation for 13 years. He was assigned as Pastor of Falls Road A.M.E. Church by Bishop Adam Jefferson Richardson, Jr. on October 18, 2008. Rev. Edmonds is committed to kingdom building and he loves the Lord with his whole heart. His favorite passage of scripture is "And we know that all things work together for good, to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose."

Rev. Edmonds is married to Rev. Jerri Donyel Hudson Edmonds and they are the proud parents of a son, Raymond III, and a daughter, Cierra.
