Rev. Karen D. Brooks


The Rev. Karen D. Brooks hails from Chestertown, Maryland. She is the eldest daughter of William and Dorothy Hutchins. Her father is the late Merle C. Brooks. She was educated in the Kent County public school systems and received her undergraduate degree in Business Education from Delaware State University where she graduated Cum Laude. She is currently enrolled at St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute.


Rev. Brooks received her call into ministry in April of 1999 while a member of Greater Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church in Upper Marlboro. She was ordained an Itinerant Deacon on April 21, 2006, at the Washington Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She traveled with Rev. Bess McCallister for nine months to assist her at Holy Trinity A.M.E. Church in Rock Hall, MD. She served on the staff of Cowdensville A.M. E. church for five years under the pastorate of Rev. C. Michele Langston. She currently serves on the staff of Falls Road A.M.E. Church under the dynamic leadership of the Rev. Raymond Edmonds, Jr.


Rev. Brooks serves as the Clergy Advisor to the Seniors Ministry. She sings with the Mass Choir and leads the Mime Ministry. She teaches Noon Day Adult Bible Study and Sunday School. She serves as the Church School Superintendent and the Director for Vacation Bible School. Rev. Brooks is also the Area Superintendent for five churches in the Baltimore Area. She serves on the Executive Committee for the Capital District Church School and is the Registrar for the Capital District’s Church School Convention.


Rev. Brooks is employed by the State of Maryland and has been a loyal servant to the citizens of Maryland for the past 30 years.


Her favorite scripture is John 15:13, “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” She gives God all the Glory for the Great things He has done..
